About Us

Welcome to our website.

 

I got started in dogs as a young child helping my parents raise and show their pure bred dogs.  Under the Minsmere kennel name, we bred and exhibited miniature pinchers and standard schnauzers.  After a long break from the sport, I am back with my husband, Geoffrey, under our own kennel name, Buenavista.  We make our home in beautiful Southcentral Alaska.  Our Spanish kennel name translates to good scenery or views and happens to share the name of our Homer, Alaska subdivision.  We feel it appropriate since we believe that both Alaska and our dogs are wonderful sights to see.

 

All of our dogs are home-raised members of our family, pets first then pros in the ring and field.  We follow the American Kennel Club and the Dachshund Club of America guidelines for responsible dog ownership and breeding.  We are founding members and I was the Vice-President of the Alaska Hound Group Association.  We strive to better the breeds we are involved with and to help others learn and understand more about them.  Most of all we are proud of our dogs and their many accomplishments.
